A City That Works - In Real Life

Washington, DC works best when leadership shows up, listens, and delivers consistently.

I'm Gary Goodweather. I live and work here, and I've spent my career building organizations, managing complex operations, and training people to deliver results people can actually see.

This campaign isn't about debate or ideology. Its about outcomes people can feel:

1. Kids learning early

2. Neighborhoods people feel safe in

3. Families able to afford to stay

4. City services that respect residents' time

That's what a city that works looks like - and that's the standard guiding this campaign.

Education

Reallocate funds to prioritize lifelong learning and student success. Hire more literacy tutors, special educators, school counselors, and mental health professionals. Expand after-school programs that meet real needs and prepare young people for the future.

<p><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary)">Safety</span></p>

Safety

Strengthen accountability and effectiveness in law enforcement. Invest in top-tier training, expand community policing, and rebuild trust through real relationships. Provide incentives for officers and safety professionals to live in the District and know their neighborhoods.

<p><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary)">Prosperity</span></p>

Prosperity

Make DC affordable and sustainable by supporting both residents and local businesses. Pair affordability with clean energy investment—geothermal, small modular nuclear, solar, and thermal hydrolysis—to create a balanced power mix that lowers costs and builds long-term prosperity.
